Destiny’s Child Survivor was inspired by a joke
Destiny’s Child is a popular R&B girl group that consists of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. They are one of the most famous girl groups of all time. They are often referred to as the queens of R&B. However, their music has failed to live up to their reputation.
Destiny’s Child broke up in 2004. Members Farrah Franklin, LaToya Luckett, and LeToya Roberson all left the band. There was some controversy when they left. They sued the group’s manager Mathew Knowles, but the lawsuit was settled out of court.
After the band’s breakup, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland took the name Destiny’s Child and released an album. The album included the number-one song “Bootylicious,” which sampled Stevie Nicks’ “Emotion” for the track.
The group released Survivor, their third studio album. The music video was filmed at Point Dume State Beach in Malibu, California. It premiered on MTV’s Making the Video.
The lyrics were written by Beyonce and Anthony Dent. In the song, the girls talk about the tough times in their lives. This echoes the Darwinian idea of the fittest.
She stood by Chris Brown at the American Music Awards
When Chris Brown was nominated for Favorite Male R&B Artist at the 2022 American Music Awards, he had the advantage over his peers. He beat out The Weeknd, Lucky Daye, and Brent Faiyaz to claim the award. During his acceptance speech, Rowland defended Chris by calling him a “superstar” and a “singer-songwriter”.
In recent years, Brown has been accused of sexual assault, physical abuse, and rampant colorism. As a result of these accusations, he has endured a number of legal troubles. On Saturday, he claimed he was scheduled to perform a Michael Jackson tribute. But the performance was cancelled, and Brown blasted the organizers for their last-minute decision.
A day after the AMAs, Rowland appeared to take the heat from some fans for her support of Brown. On Sunday, she gave Chris a shout-out while presenting the Best Male R&B Singer award. However, some viewers on Twitter were a bit underwhelmed.
Fans were quick to note that Kelly Rowland did not mention any of the other finalists in the Best Male R&B Singer category. However, she did mention the most important one.
